You may freely choose, including outside your town. Always ask for a written quote first; some fees are set by law, others are free.

Estate filing
- FPS Finance: declaration of estate (Brussels/Wallonia)
You can file yourself or hire a notary. For complex cases, a professional is almost always worth it.
- Vlabel: inheritance tax (Flemish residents)
Honest note: notary fees are often overestimated. For a simple estate without real estate, expect typically EUR 500 to 1,500; for a deed of inheritance EUR 250 to 500. Always ask for a written quote before instructing.
